How far apart are the Guest Houses and what are their outlooks?
Our Spa Cottages are approximately 10 metres apart and separated by shrubs and trees. Each one has an easterly aspect overlooking the gardens and the lake. The Lake Retreat faces south west and has a view of the lake, rose gardens and a beautiful grassed area.
What’s included?
All stays include a generous complimentary hamper which comprises locally sourced products and breakfast provisions for guests to prepare at their leisure each morning.
Do you cater for special dietary needs?
Provided we are notified at the time of booking, we are able to substitute some of the items in our hamper; for example, we will exchange cow’s milk for soy and/or regular bread for ‘gluten free’. Please let us know if you require a vegetarian option.
Are the cottages and retreat serviced daily?
No. Granite Gardens provides self-contained accommodation and our guest houses are not serviced daily. For longer stays of 4 nights or more, we provide a mid-stay clean including replenishment of provisions.
What happens if I need to cancel or change my dates?
We appreciate all efforts to change the date of your booking if a clash occurs. Although we don’t take a deposit at the time of reservation, your booking means that we hold your chosen dates exclusively for you, barring others from taking those dates. You can cancel free of charge 14 days and longer prior to arrival; however, if your booking is cancelled within 14 days before arrival you will be charged 50% of the total tariff.
What is the check-in procedure?
Check-in is from 2 pm and check-out at 10.00 am. Upon arrival, you will find reception at the main house at the front of our property. Your hosts, Chris or Lynne will welcome your party to Granite Gardens and accompany you to your cottage and answer any questions that you may have at the time of check-in.
Can I check-in earlier than 2pm?
Please call or text well ahead of your check-in time to determine whether we can assist with your request. Understandably, at busy times an early check-in will not be possible.
Can I drop off my luggage prior to the 2pm check-in?
Unfortunately we do not have a secure area to store luggage, you will need to keep your luggage with you until check-in.
Can I invite friends to the property?
No. Guests are not, under any circumstance, permitted to invite anyone onto the property who is not staying on the property with the exception of transportation and tour operators unless prior arrangements have been made and approved.
Is the accommodation quiet?
Granite Gardens is a tranquil place and aside from the birdlife and their accompanying chorus, you can be assured of a restful break.
How far are you from the nearest attractions?
Our property is a 15 minute drive to Stanthorpe, 15 minutes to wineries located in the Ballandean area, 30 minutes to Girraween National Park and one hour to Sundown National Park. Brisbane Airport is a three-hour drive.
How far are you from the nearest restaurant?
Around 15 minutes – You will be emailed a list of recommended restaurants upon booking.
Can I purchase a gift certificate?
Yes. Gift Certificates are available via our website and are valid for 18 months from date of purchase.
Are there supermarkets close by?
Yes. Woolworths, Aldi and an excellent IGA (Spano’s) are in Stanthorpe (a 15 minute drive) as well as the highly regarded Stanthorpe Butchers ( in the Woolworths complex) and several terrific bakeries and a wonderful deli – Brinx- that stocks an excellent range of local produce. We also recommend the Stanthorpe Cheese Factory at Thulimbah on the northside of Stanthorpe if you are coming from Brisbane.
Do you accommodate children?
No, we do not accommodate children at Granite Gardens.
Can we bring our pets?
Yes. We allow small to medium sized dogs at Granite Gardens, subject to approval. An accompanying pet will incur a surcharge of $50.00.
Do you accept 1 night bookings?
Unfortunately, no. Due to the cost of inclusions and preparation of our cottages, we have a strict 2- night minimum stay policy.
